About The Artist
Ann & McDonald Crosby
|
Joppa Mountain Pottery is a family of potters and artists
living in the small rural community of "Joppa" located in
Rutledge, Tennessee
in the beautiful Grainger County foothills of the Clinch Mountain.
All of their work is "One of a Kind."
There are no molds used in any of their processes.
They offer a wide range of pottery
that is both their design or custom made for the individual.
 |
McDonald Crosby, Master Potter,
and his wife Ann started
Joppa Mountain Pottery in 1995.
Ann's son Shane Fowler joined the business
a couple of years later,
and then added his fiancée Renae Luttrell.
McDonald graduated with Honors
from Brevard College with his degree in Art,
and followed up with a
Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree
from the University of Tennessee in 1977.
And has been making pottery for over 30 years.
Ann has owned and operated
her own ceramics shop
which produced over 3000 different molds.
And has roughly 20 plus years invested.
They have taught
their trade to
Shane and Renae,
and they all work together to make
Joppa Mountain Pottery
a successful business. |

The remote hills of
Grainger County, Tennessee,
hold a surprise:
high-quality pottery is being perfected
along the winding road
leading up Joppa Mountain.
For more than 20 years,
McDonald Crosby has been a potter
on the Joppa Mountain property.
With the addition of a studio and new kiln,
McDonald's wife, Ann, and daughter, Stormy,
have been lending their
own unique touches to the pottery.
The colorful pottery,
with its fruit and floral accents,
blends beautifully in a country home.
We learn the different techniques
for making both pottery and earthenware. |
