About Pure Mountain Herbs
Pure Mountain Herbs is a very small
home business I started with my friend, Anne Hunter, in 2001. We both loved living in our rural homes in Hancock County, in the mountains of northeast Tennessee. Anne has a PhD in Health Psychology, and used and studied herbs (including with Susun Weed) for about 10 years. I had been using herbs as a midwife and for my family for about 7 years. |

We also both really enjoyed getting outside
to gather the wild herbs that grow abundantly around our homes, and making the products others can use
for their improved well being. It’s something that “grounds” us to nature. We loved learning about
how so many of the wild plants around us can be used for health and healing,
and preserving herbal wisdom. |
|
It is
especially exciting to hear reports of how well our products work, and to get to know their capabilities so well. Anne has gone on to further studies to be an herbal clinician and start an education center near Harrisonburg, Virginia. I live an ecologically sensitive life-style. We built our home with passive solar heat and solar electricity, using the spring near the house for water. |

About The Ingredients
I use ingredients that are of the highest quality.
I choose to use wild plants for most of our products
which I gather with respect for the earth and the plant colonies.
I also grow a few things organically. I also use those plants that grow in our area,
and make things people could make for themselves. |
 |
I use cold
pressed organic extra virgin olive oil for the oils and salves, because it is such high quality, is not extracted with heat or chemicals, and is the best so nourishing for your skin. It is rich in antioxidants, and moisturizes the skin without clogging the pores or leaving an oily residue. The salves also have unprocessed bees wax, wheat germ oil (very high in vitamin E). The aromatherapy pure essential oils, which add a pleasant fragrance, have healing properties and add to the shelf life.
If products are
kept away from heat and exposure to light,
their shelf life is several years. |
