About The Artist
Keith Bowman

Travel back in time
when things moved at a much slower pace
and the creation of necessary household items
were made by hand one at a time,
Keith Bowman, broom maker and white cooper,
guides you through the creation process
from conception through slow,
meticulous hand movements
to completion of what we now call "crafts."

Keith sits in his wheel chair using tools
reminiscent of an age when great care was given
in the creation of even the smallest item.

He selects and measures
sufficient materials
to make into the items of need.
As he works slowly
we see works of art take form
from raw materials
that he carefully chooses.

Keith can be seen at several shows and fairs in the
Eastern and Southeastern United States, where he is a favorite demonstrator.
He also teaches bowl carving and spoon making as well as broom making
at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina.
Keith also teaches in small workshops locally as well as "one on one"
at his studio at his home in Hancock County Tennessee.

There is a difference between
assembly line production
and work that is produced by the hands
of one who loves the touch
of the raw materials and it shows.
He is not only an accomplished broom maker
and cooper (one in a few in America today),
but continues to add to his skills as he produces

*Brooms  *Spoons  *Utensils
